Listen, you and I both know that lenses outlast camera bodies, right? I can understand buying a gray market lens for that reason, and in fact I would even suggest that you get a good condition, high rated BRAND lens (never any of those crappy generics).
Now, we also know how unstable this new technology is and how fragile the cameras AND the technology are, right? There have been a host of individuals that have had problems with their newly purchased cameras from day one, regardless of camera brand and model or cost (yes, even the "pro" level cameras get damaged... trust me on that one!). So, why would you buy a grey market camera if Nikon won't service it...? Hey, the risk ain't worth nor equal to the chances you're taking! I don't suggest it... you get what you pay for! Think twice about it.|||I am also planning to get D80 but i would not suggest the grey market. You better ask anyone to get from abroad which will work out cheaper or spend some extra money and get it here.|||As an owner of a superb Nikon F4, I can tell you in no uncertain words: DO NOT BUY GREY MARKET STUFF. It is not worth your time or money. The quality of the merchandise is not guaranteed, the original company will not honour the warranty and you may be stuck with a lemon. You cannot return it. Grit your teeth and buy it from an authorized dealer with full warranty in the country you buy it in. You will never regret it. By the way, if you are buying a D80, have you considered the Nikon D200x? It is very expensive but it is a superb camera.
