I have bought a new Santro Xing. Which speakers/stereo would best suit my car according to the acoustics?

I want the stereo with a USB port, iPOD AUX port and with all CDs(MP3/WMA/RM) music player. Please suggest as I am in a dilemma as to which one to go for. There are so many stereos available in the market. Is it OK if I go for the grey market ones as they are cheaper than going for the costly warranteed ones? Please reply soon. Thanks in advance!

Manish Chawla|||Well you just bought a new car and you need a new head unit. Serious Migrant Problem?

Serious Migrant Problem

‘There is no denying it. It is 1998 all over again. Political situation in the country is all fluid and turbulent. When this is coupled with a downward sliding world economic trend, the result would be a recipe for disaster, economic and beyond.

I know, I have been writing mostly about politics and economy nowadays. For this round, I would like to briefly clarify my views on a somewhat social, but ultimately political and economic local issue which is swirling around us these days.

And that issue is one which is abundantly familiar to all Sabahans, and which has been haunting us for the past thirty years or so. Yes, you guess it right, it is the illegal immigrants issue. I do not intend to provide a scholarly researched piece of work here, but just some basic and (I hope) unbiased points laying out my views.

Money vs. Politics

Let’s first distinguish between refugees and economic migrants. In 1970s and early 1980s, many Southern Filipinos rushed for their lives due to rampant civil wars in their homeland, and landed on the shores of Sabah. They were refugees fleeing political persecution in their homeland, and were recognised as such by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UMHCR), which set up an office in Sabah at the time to handle such cases as well as those of Vietnamese boat people (at least those who were refugees). Refugees are clearly protected by successive international treaties, and UNHCR arranged for their resettlements in third countries.

There were, however, other groups of foreigners coming ashore to Sabah from then till now. They came from the Southern parts of Philippines and also various parts of the Indonesian archipelagos. Facing economic hardships in their homelands, they came to prospect for greener pastures in Sabah. In strict international-law terms, these were not refugees, but economic migrants, who were accordingly not protected as refugees.

Arrival by Design

And these economic migrants chose Sabah for several reasons. One was obviously the long and porous maritime and mountainous borders of Sabah, making undetected entries relatively convenient.

Another, more insidious reason was of course the commonly known attempt by certain quarters during those politically unfavourable times to modify the population and voter structure of Sabah. It was thought that since these economic migrants were of a certain background and creed, they would of course be supportive of their “brethrens” of a similar creed and background. Hence there were all these stories of supposedly illegal immigrants getting ICs and local nationality.

Open Secret

Yes, openly saying the above may get me into trouble, for it is widely known in Sabah yet rarely do commentators dare to speak it up. But just as you thought the previous almost conspiratorial reason was the main one, you were actually wrong. There was yet another, even more unspoken but actually quite obvious reason for the arrival of these economic migrants. Our local labour market needed them in abundant quantity! Let’s face it. You walk into any coffee shop, the waiters and waitresses who serve you are most probably members of these economic migrants communities. This is not to mention the coffee-makers, cooks, dish washers and sometimes even cashiers! Added to that the workers at the construction site and in the estates, and you see why Sabah became such an attractive destination for these economic migrants. They formed essentially a grey market in the Sabah economy.

Simple Math

Yes, according to various sources, these economic migrants now make up more than half, if not more, of Sabah’s population. In fact, you don’t even have to quote sources. If you just make some simple calculations on Sabah’s astonishing population growth since Independence, you would inevitably come to either one of two conclusions. Either Sabah has experienced the world’s highest population growth rate – several times that of India or Bangladesh, for example, or we have “imported” a lot of people!

But don’t forget, they came here almost at the constructive invitation of the then powers. Ask yourself frankly (as I asked myself too), when your ancestors came to Sabah a few decades or even centuries ago (there is no denying that we are ultimately all descendants of successive immigrants settling down in north Borneo), did they come with proper documentations?

Yes, some members of these communities committed very heinous crimes, but some others were quite productive in their work, and generous in their spending. During several previous “operasi” to round up these economic migrants, my local friends who operated sundry shops complained about declining business!

Switch of Allegiance

But of course there are potential threats to national security. Do not forget, these economic migrants are (or were) mainly Filipinos and Indonesians. At times of exigency, despite their similar creed with the majority community in Malaysia, there is absolutely no guarantee of their allegiance to Malaysia. As they are now making up essentially the majority population in the state, what is stopping them from one day engaging in separatism and union with their motherlands? The authorities would be playing with fire in their hands if permissive attitude is continued with respect to the infiltration of these economic migrants.

Of Street Kids… and Adults

And then there were the sorry sights of the street children’s hanging around town, hawking and begging. They were mostly the second or third generations of those economic migrants. Many of them were born in Sabah, yet because of their parents’ non-refugee status, they became essentially stateless children left to wander around town. If they are left to roam the streets since young age without proper education, any wonder they would grow up to be toughened thugs who would haunt our beloved state?

Forced repatriation is of course always an option, but it requires the cooperation of their countries of origin. But since most of these economic migrants were born and travel without proper documentations, their supposed countries of origins also have difficulties recognising and “absorbing” them back. And these countries of origins are obviously reluctant to “take back” those children born in Sabah of their nationals. You can’t just send these people by boat to international waters and push them down the seas and say, “Swim back to your country of origin!” That would both be inhuman and impracticable.

As essentially a host country to these stateless children, we have an obligation to provide at least some of them with basic educational, nutritional and shelter needs. There are many locals who would argue that we don’t even have enough money to educate our own children’s in our somewhat decrepit educational system, what more to accommodate such “alien” children?

Let the Experts Handle It!

Well, there is at least a partial and temporary solution, but one with potentially beneficial implications. There are many international volunteer and aid organizations that were more than willing to take up the unenviable tasks mentioned above. If we cannot handle the basic needs of the stateless children ourselves, then we should open the door and welcome those mostly European and sometimes American non-governmental organizations handle them. These humanitarian groups usually have the passion, the expertise and the resources to accomplish such ardent tasks, and they have done it successfully elsewhere in the world, from Guatemala in Central America to Ghana and Gabon in Africa.

Indeed, we have to bite the bullet and admit to the whole world that we had an essentially screwed-up migration policy and are now seeking to repair the damage done, and then humbly appeal for international help.

Shame in Denial

A partial solution such as the above is not perfect, but it is at least a baby step toward a more comprehensive solution when the time is ripe, such as when Sabah is prosperous enough that it would “coattail” the surrounding economies into comparable prosperity, thus reducing the incentives for these economic migrants to come ashore.

There is no shame or loss of sovereignty in admitting wrongs and attempting to redress them. There is every shame and imminent loss of sovereignty in perpetuating the wrongs and denying them.

Having worked in the humanitarian office of the United Nations, Ei Sun saw first hand the successful and not so successful implementation of various solutions for refugees and other types of displaced peoples around the the world. Is it worth investing inJubilant FoodWorks has opened its initial public offer (IPO). ?

Jubilant FoodWorks has opened its initial public offer (IPO). The company runs the renowned fast food chain Domino’s Pizza in the country and has 286 stores in 22 states.

The company proposes to raise up to Rs 328.72 crore by selling 2,26,70,447 shares for subscription and the price band for listing is Rs 135–Rs 145 per share. The offer closes on January 20.

Kotak Mahindra Capital Company is acting as the sole book-running lead manager to the offer.

Experts we spoke to were mixed in their opinion of the IPO. While Investment Advisor SP Tulsian said investors should avoid the issue, Manish Bhatt of Prabhudas Lilladher had the opposite opinion.

Tulsian said 82% of the funds raised would go to shareholders who are selling stake via the IPO while the remaining 18% of the proceeds would be deployed in the company — that too for debt repayment. “It means that for any growth, the company will have to use its internal accruals and not any IPO proceeds,” he said.

The issue, at Rs 135 was steeply priced, he said, based on calculation of number of paid-up equity and market capitalization post IPO. “Based on these prices, it works to around a value of Rs 3 crore per outlet, while it does not even cost Rs 50 lakh for an outlet.”

Bhatt, however, said an investor should subscribe to the issue with a long-term view. "The grey market premium of this IPO is around Rs 25 over its issue price," he said.|||I have already written an article on this:

Is it Safe to buy a Yamaha U10BL upright piano second hand in Australia? HELP!!?

So here's the insight.. i am currently thinking of buying this piano and currently have a deposit on it within a shop here in sydney. After doing some internet research, i have then identified that this particular piano model is one that is maybe from the "grey market" (one not made for the Australia Market) this mainly meaning that it may not be made for the Australian Climate/Weather?

After my knowledge of this, i then called the seller of this

"soon to be my piano" and explained to her my concerns..

she wasn't surprised with this question of mine as apparently many have also asked her the same thing? she then explained that " it would be perfectly fine as many wrongly believe that this will take great affect with the Australian weather apparently cracks due to weather change only happen if drastic weather changed occur. - e.g. Japan (humid) versing Middle East (dry).

so who do i believe? im confused? do i continue with the purchase? please help ? :o

THANKS!!!|||Yamaha makes an incredible amount of pianos each year. They have been doing this year after year after year and consequently the used piano market is flooded with used Yamaha's and Yamaha finds themselves competing with their own pianos. Yamaha wants you to buy new Yamaha's, not used Yamaha's so they created this marketing campaign to scare potential buyers away from buying used Yamaha's.

When August Forster builds a piano they build them all the same. It is up to the buyer to create the proper environment that will suit the piano. If you live in a humid climate then you would need to install a de-humidifier to pull the moisture out of the room and if you live in a dry climate you would need to put moisture into the room. It would be impossible for Yamaha to build a piano to suite every climate. Australia is a big country, if they were going to build a piano for your climate, which one did they pick?

It will not matter if you buy this grey market Yamaha or a brand new Yamaha, the sound board will crack and keys will stick if you do not maintain the proper temperature and humidity ranges. Ideally temperature 21-22 deg.C. Humidity 40%. Keep it away from heating and air conditioning vents. Inside walls are better if your outside wall bakes during the summer or sees extreme cold weather during the winter. Do not let the sun shine directly on the piano.|||First, I wouldn't buy a Yamaha as all the Yamaha's I've played and even competed on, are never any good. The sound is big or loud enough, not full and rounded enough, and just not that fun to play because most of their parts are plastic which feel poorly and effect the sound greatly. As for Australian weather, I would suggest a keyboard, not a piano. Yamaha has excelled in electronic keyboards in that you can get ones that are the size of and look like baby grands. These are much more resilient in harsh weather conditions.|||It is safe to buy unless the piano police are after you.

What is the solutions to the water shortage?

Australia is currently in the grip of its worst drought since Federation. Different parts of the country are affected in worse ways than others. However, governments across the nation have generally faced the problem of developing both short and long-term solutions to the water shortage.

As a result, the Queensland Government has decided to conduct an inquiry into the water crisis in Queensland. It is seeking submissions that put forward solutions to the water shortage. Such solutions might include: the imposition of severe restrictions on personal and commercial water use; building of more dams; the construction of desalination plants; sewage treatment; greater use of “grey water” for everyday household use; and the introduction of more market-based instruments to regulate water usage.

You have been asked to prepare a submission that develops policy solutions to the water shortage. Make sure that it considers the impact on business sectors and the community. Potential clients include:

•Australian Water Association

•Australian Conservation Foundation

•Commerce Queensland

•Friends of the Earth Australia|||DeSalination. We have the same issue in California. As usual it will come down to money.|||The earth is 70% water and we still don't have enough..........?????????|||Save water..avoid unnecessary wastage of water...|||Let's all pee into the yellow sea|||the only real and very simple answer, without going into writing up a true submission, is to lower the rate of consuption. the only way to do that is to decrease need and the only effective way to do that is to lower the population. not only will this cure the water shortages, it will also go along way to decreasing the famine, disease, polution, and generally the destruction of this planet all of which is caused by overpopulation.

From the beginning it was said that the price is over valued and the premium is not justifiable in any case. Greedy investors who have seen the 900+ figures in the grey market suddenly jumped into the foray and started purchasing without thinking abt the background of the company. It is this ignorance that has led to this bizarre.|||Greedy Investors : Most of all invester's are to be blamed, they had not invested in a stock, but they were betting to encash listing gains only. Some even borrow money from the market and applied.|||everyone is equally responsible....ofcourse Ambani even if he loses few thousands of crores does not make much difference because he has so much wealth that it does not matter. English grammar rule against ambiguity?

This includes a discussion of why cryobanks are a viable option for women with an infertile partner, lesbian women, single mothers, and men who have a risk of genetic disease, as well as why these groups in many cases turn to the grey market for donors.

To me this sentence looks like it says:

for X with Y, (with) Z, (with) A

it is supposed to read:

for X with Y, (for) Z, and (for) A.

The final sentence looks like it could reiterate the preposition "for" to avoid confusion after the introduction of the "with"...

This includes a discussion of why cryobanks are a viable option for women with an infertile partner, for lesbian women, single mothers, and men who have a risk of genetic disease, as well as why these groups in many cases turn to the grey market for donors.

Thus:

for X with Y, for Z, and (for) A.

Does English have a rule about reiterating prepositions when they become ambiguous?

So I always have to stop reading, think about the message, which is implied, because it seems odd in my head that women would have either an infertile partner or lesbian women.

-%26gt; Why would a woman ever have lesbian women?

Lol|||You're right about the potential for ambiguity but the context is clear here. I think that as native speakers we do the thought process you mentioned "why would a woman ever have lesbian women" automatically and realize right away the structure of this sentence.

It is perfectly good English to add the extra "for"s to disambiguate the sentence. You could also do it by repeating "for" just once.

"This includes a discussion of why cryobanks are a viable option for women with an infertile partner, and also for lesbian women, single mothers, and men who have a risk of genetic disease. It also discusses why these groups in many cases turn to the grey market for donors."

Note that using this structure makes the sentence complicated enough that I decided to break off the last part as a second sentence. But that should probably be done anyway. This sentence is confusing just by its length.

English does have ambiguities, and these are often the source of jokes. Leslie Nielsen, a comedy movie star, just died. His big hit "Airplane" was full of these language jokes.

A: There's a problem in the cockpit.

B: What is it?

A: It's a little room in the front of the plane where the pilots sit, but that's not important.

Why does Apple refuse to sell their iPad to people who actually have cash?

Apple is staying quiet on why it refuses to accept cash payments for iPads, says San Francisco's KGO. The TV station notes that a local disabled woman, Diane Campbell, decided to make an iPad her first computer so she could advance her guitar playing. After saving small amounts of cash over several months, she eventually accumulated the $600 she needed to buy a 16GB Wi-Fi model. When she tried to pay for one at the Palo Alto Apple Store, however, she was rejected.

Although Apple's policy of only allowing debit or credit card purchases for iPads is not new, Campbell explains that a store worker informed her that it was to "prevent con artists from buying lots of iPads selling them overseas." She adds moreover that she was given anecdotes of people "buying 50 and 100 iPads at a time and going overseas and selling them triple the amount," despite Apple also imposing a limit of two iPads per customer. Contacted to confirm the explanation, Apple has so far refused to elaborate.

The story adds to a picture of the company as worried about getting as many iPads as possible into American hands. Fears of gray-market sales may be behind accusations of discrimination in New York City, where some SoHo store workers have allegedly been treating Chinese customers as automatically suspect. China is an extremely large market for grey market electronics, and is not expected to officially get the iPad for several months, or possibly even by the end of 2010.|||Apple is becoming a company that is just too hard to deal with. They are getting just as bad as Microsoft.|||hmmmm|||Its to track purchases. Con artists used to buy hundreds of ipods in cash (a handful at a time through multiple stores) and then sell them overseas at 2-3 times the actual cost.|||I have one,Im using it now..|||Ridiculous!

Not the story, but to have any company refuse to accept U.S. currency leaves common sense speechless. Limit the units per sale. If Apple was so concerned about overseas markets, they should have opened in overseas markets.

Visa for China ? Please read.?

The school mistress of the embassy school said I would not

need a working permission to work at the embassy school

and that any visa would do for working at the embassy

school since the embassy school was not on Chinese

territory.

So , as naive as I am , I did come to China in terms of a

tourist visa since she did not offer anything that I coul d

present at the Chinese embassy in my country in order

to obtain another visa.

Arriving in China, I found out that I do need a working

visa or at least a business visa and that I can not

prolong the tourist visa, being in the country already.

So I "bought" the visa what I call the "Grey Market" since the school just refused to help me whatever. It was not cheap

but still cheaper than leaving the country to get my proper

visa and I had to work.

I am FURIOUS at the head mistress and school administaration leaving me entirely alone with the problem

I am aslo furious with myself.|||This is very common in China, I have taught and managed teachers for almost ten years now, it is part of the system as aggravating as it is, I see it every year, this year one of my teachers got a job with a "legal" school and they got him a visa through an agency, the visa says he works for Microsoft as a consultant, another one of my teachers is a real estate consultant, the system is stupid and frustrating, but, it is something you need to deal with and get over, I suggest if you want to avoid these issues, work for an International school, it will still be frustrating at times but a lot more organized, at least it should be, email me I can help you and give you some suggestions

I sent you an email, if the school is being run by Chinese this is common, if it is being run by the Europeans that work for the Embassey, than they must not know what they are doing and the school is most likely not legal and that is why they are not helping you with a visa, there are thousands of people here with "grey market" visas, if you are living in Shanghai you can check out www.visainchina. com, the chances of you getting in trouble are slim to none, b/c you do in fact have a visa, I have lived here for almost ten years and I do not know anyone with a "grey market" visa that ever got in trouble|||I gave you the appripriate answer to your problem when you posted this over a month ago. If your "Grey Market" visa isnt sanctioned by the PSB you can be arrested when you are trying to leave and at the very least pay a fine of 500 RMB for everyday over the expiry your orig. visa was up to 4,000 RMB. Visas are in national databases to be checked at the border.. If your "Grey Market" visa is one procured by a company like Emoo, than you should be reasonably fine.. I love giving advice, expressing myself, and fixing things to better someone or something. I am currently interested in realty, psychology, writing, traveling, and photography. It involves interacting with people, listening to their problems and helping them develop solutions, interviewing candidates for hire and keeping things organized. Market value of a 1987 Mazda RX7 mint condition?

I have one, mint condition inside and out. Gray clear coat exterior, no rust, very nice leather seats interior. No mechanical problems, stock engine. Is it likely to appreciate over the next 5 years?|||Is it a factory turbo? That makes a HUGE difference in the value!!!! A regular coupe would be worth about $1000 or so, in good condition. The turb would be worth almost $5000 in the same condition!! This is assuming that there are not too many miles on the vehicles

To do that you need it appraised also.|||depending on the mileage, say, under 100000 miles, that car is probably worth upwards of five grand. Nikon D80 - Brazil vs. USA -- Any Difference?

Is there any physical/mechanical difference between a Nikon D80 made for Brazil and a Nikon D80 made for USA; Whether Imported or Grey Market?

What about D40, D60, D90, D200?|||There is no physical or mechanical difference. The real difference is in warranty coverage--Nikon USA will not support any grey market products, even if U are willing to pay for the repairs.

Also, Brazil uses the PAL TV standard while the US currently uses the NTSC TV standard, so U might need to go into the setup menu of the D80 and change it from PAL to NTSC.

Nikon says:

"Nikon Incorporated USA is the sole authorized importer of Nikon Corporation of Japan for photographic devices. Nikon Inc. USA pays shipping into the USA, import duties and taxes, and provides service, support and downloads for these products. Nikon Inc. Refinishing a weathered cedar deck?

I had a cedar deck installed a year ago and was told by the contractor to wait a year before applying a finish to the deck. Now, I've been told that it should have been finished right after construction. The deck has now turned grey and there is some mildew and I've received conflicting advice on how to get rid of it. Some say to use commercial wood brighteners, others to use 3-1 ratio water to household bleach. Anyone have any experience using household bleach?

Some say to pressure wash, others not. I have heard that pressure washing will damage the wood. Is pressure washing OK, if, what PSI to use?

Also, can you share your experience with wood finishing products? What are some names of good wood finishing products on the market, and, also which ones ones to stay away from? I would like the deck to have a natural wood look, the way the wood was when it was delivered.

I would appreciate any advice and thank you for your time.|||Depending on where you are will depend on if you are familiar with both the products I'm going to mention.

As for doing your deck when it was new - yes you could have done it then before it got grey now - but you can get that fixed.

As for the pressure washing....unless you really know how to use one of these - even the experts in the field say no. It can damage your deck and it also drives the water down into the wood taking it longer to dry out. I just had a customer today that came in today complaining that he used one on the weekend and damaged his deck after being advised to use one for cleaning.

My advise is to use a Deck Wash for the greying and if its just mildew - that will restore the natural look. Thompsons makes one. If you have mold as well you will need to use the solution of bleach and water to kill the mold (the Thompson's doesn't say it kills mold).

As for finishes after for that *natural* look and if you are not going for a stain - then look towards Olympic Maximum in the blue can - it has a 2 year guarentee and is clear with the following benefits.......Penetrating oil formula for our best protection ,

WaterGuard庐 Plus 2-way waterproofing protection,

Advanced SunBlock庐 U.V. protection ,

Exclusive ScuffGuard庐 formula ,

How do I know if my camera lens is from the black market or not?

Ok. I got a Canon lens on ebay from an ebay store.

Every pic I've seen on the interent of this lens shows it as being black and white as did the pic on ebay.

When I got the lens today is was black and kinda the same tan as the old computers used to be.

It came with a Canon International Warrenty and everything say canon and looks authintic, but the color made me wonder. I've been told that if you get a camera and it is gray then it's black market so I wondered if this applied to lenses too?

It works really good and I'm happy w/ it but I just wondered if I had reason to worry about it?|||If your lens came with a USA warranty card, then it's probably not grey market.

If your lens came with an "International Warranty" with no USA warranty card, then it's likely to be grey market--that is, an import into the U.S. of a genuine Canon lens, but from a non-authorized importer.

Think of it this way: Canon USA is the official importer. If you went on an airplane to Japan and bought 10 lenses and put them in your suitcase and brought them back to the U.S. and sold them, you'd be a grey market importer because you're not the official importer.

I want to ask prices of ps3../?

What is the price of PS3 in India..

What is its price in malls or showrooms.../

What is its price in grey market?

what it its price in palika bazaar [CP] or black market|||donno about black or grey markets but in showrooms it l come around 18-20000.. might be a lil on the lower side in delhi|||PS3 just got a price cut and so the price is currently 299$.

The problem is that India charges taxes and so the prices increase. As per Sony ,the newer PS3 Slim will be charged at 20000 Rs and the older one will be around 18000 Rs official market.

The Gray market prices won't go down soon as half the people don't know that a price cut has occurred. Once Sony prices their PS3 Slim at 20000 Rs (120GB model), and the gray market starts to get PS3 Slim (which won't take much time either), then you can expect PS3 prices to go down. Early PS3 Slim in Gray market will cost more, but the price will drop to 17-18K early. I bought a PS3 from Gray market (live in Mumbai) for 24000 when the official price was 28000.... So you see the difference is about 100$.

I would wait for a price drop to happen soon.|||new ps3 will come out sept.1 call ps3 slim and ps3 will go down at 299.99 in us

Find a great stylist %26amp; they can help you figure out the best way to style it %26amp; possibly put some colour into it so you will like it better.|||Redken has a color line just for men...it only takes a few min. to have it done..I use it on my husband, and he loves the look...Go to a pro. over the counter colors, (especially for men) look bad!|||the reason your hair becomes gray is because due to the natural aging process (and your genetics), your hair is losing pigment. unfortunately, there is no way to get your natural pigment back into it. the only way to make it not gray anymore would be to permanently color it. if your only 30, and your 60-70% gray, i would absolutely suggest coloring it. your friends are telling you it looks more charming, but they're just being nice. grey hair makes everyone look older, no matter how old you really are.

you could highlight it, which would be more subtle, and it would help "blend" the gray better, instead of completely covering it up. but i would suggest going to a professional, asking them for the recommendation, and then just doing whatever it is that they say. make sure you do your research before choosing a salon and a stylist. i would suggest finding a Paul Mitchell salon near you. we are highly trained with color, and will spend alot of time with you explaining different options, and making sure you will be happy with the end result.

Tech question about battery chargers...?

I own a canon 10d. When I bought the camera it came with a charger to charge one battery but I need to have 2 batteries charging at once..I've been looking on ebay can a grey market/non canon brand name charger ruin my canon batteries? Mess up the memory?|||The memory effect is a characteristic of older Nickel Cadmium batteries (Ni-Cad) and the Ni-Mh or Li-Ion batteries used in digital cameras do not have this problem.

There are plenty of people who know how to make battery chargers in the world besides Canon.

Remember you get what you pay for, if the charger is too cheap then it may not perform as well as better designs that are more expensive.|||I would buy a another chargeing unit or invest in a battery grip|||it shouldn't mess anything up. it should be all good.|||Battery chargers have nothing to do with your memory card, so you are safe there.

The problem with non-OEM battery chargers (and batteries) is that they do not support the features that the OEM chargers do ... for example a Canon charger will quick charge the Canon battery up to 80% and then trickle charge the battery until fully charged and then stop charging all together. This does a few things ... if keeps the battery from getting too hot which will eventually damage the battery (if it does not catch fire) and conditions the battery so it can last its useful life time of around 5 years.

Think of the extra you spend on the Canon charger and battery as insurance.

What is the best hair color for covering stubborn gray hair.?

I have medium-dark brown hair with one streak of gray right in the very top of my head. It hadn't bothered me before, I had just accepted it as a normal part of getting old, I'm 35. Well it didn't bother until the other day, my much older sisters (4, ranging in age of 48 to 52 and are also gray headed) were making fun of me just because of one little streak. Kinda hurt my feelings a little. Well, anyhoo, I've decided to start dying it and I would like your opinions of hair coloring products on the market today, what do you think are the best ones to use. Thanks very much.|||I'm only 26 and I've had the same issue for a few years now so don't feel bad. :-) I was told by a colorist in an Aveda salon that a light shade such as blond would obviously help, since you usually can't even spot grey mixed in with blond. The grey would appear to be platinum highlights. However, my hair is dark brown and I'm not willing to damage it again by going blond, plus it's ridiculously expensive to have your roots done every few weeks at the salon. So I tried several SEMI-permanent hair color shades and brands (supposed to last 24 shampoos) that were specifically advertised to cover grey, but even the black one made no different at all on the grey after about 2 shampoos. I wasn't willing to try anything permanent, since I know if I screw things up my hair would end up doubly damaged when I went to the salon to have them correct it. I know one streak can make you very self-conscious, especially since you're only 35 and probably look very young otherwise. Light blond or brown highlights are also an option, but they tend to be even more expensive than all over color. However, the maintenance is less often.

But if you're going to color it, I'd strongly suggest having it professionally done by a colorist who specializes in covering grey- at least the first time. I don't feel comfortable recommending any of the at-home products I used, since none of them were effective for me. I think that's a question best answered by a professional (who isn't trying to sell you something!)

Good luck with whatever you choose!|||brown will suit u coz u have a medium dark brown hair. and it wont show tat u have applied dye coz it is ur natural hair colour.|||brown|||You need to use professional stuff.. dont use that box crap you can buy at any grocery store. it dries out your hair and can leave it very damaged. I would go just one shade darker then you are now to help cover the grey and kinda give you a new look.. just slightly though|||I have tried different hair colors from shades to brands and I like Loreal the best or lighten your hair and highlight it you wont need to color it then.|||i personally think like medium brown hair with like a "honey red " that's what i call it its not red but its not blond its kinda a mellow color. looks great and some times it blends in sorta with medium brown hair|||i use natural instincts and the color TWEED...now i just bought some NICE AND EASY for gray and will try it next ..they are both by clairol and work great!|||DARK BROWN OR CLOSE TO YOUR NATURAL HAIR COLOR ,IF YOU DO NOT WANT A DRASTIC CHANGE BUT IF YOU WANT ALL TOGETHER DIFFERENT LOOK GO A FEW SHADES LIGHTER. Chicken Patties have Grey Meat?

The chicken patties are from Safeway %26amp; other super markets, I always notice the meat is grey.. I don't believe that's normal. I believe were eating grey aliens. Yes aliens exist. They are secretive under the governments control. But WHY is the meat grey!?|||A lot of pies, pasties and patties have gray meat and this is just because it's mechanically-recovered (by machines in factories rather than human workers), scraped off the bone for zero wastage.

This also means you might get less desirable pieces of the bird than simply the succulent breast meat and the rich-tasting brown thigh meat. There is a lot of meat on a chicken that we don't normally eat when we roast a chicken ourselves but we can boil a chicken carcass to make a flavorful broth or to make chicken stock.

These pies, pasties and patties also contain chemicals (usually) and preservatives (almost always) so they keep for longer than if you made your own. This can affect the color of the ingredients inside. Why not make your own - you'll really be able to taste the difference.

It has after market rims that are chrome and black as well as a a Rockford fosgate P3 off of a Rs500 watt amp. does have minor damage on the back panel. as well as a whine in the transmission but brand new tires and im the 3rd owner|||As much as someone is willing to pay for it.|||The best thing to do is go to http://www.kbb.com and input all your car's stats. They will give you a price range you should be looking for. If you have a tranny noise..... you might have to let it go for less, and with body damage.. all that needs to be calculated in. But like the guy above me says, you can sell it for as much as someone is willing to pay. I really think you should take the car to a tranny specialist and have them check it out. Based on what they find, you can ask for more or less than what Kelly Blue Book tells you. :)|||Depends on the model.

If it's a GT, you will probably be able to sell it for a decent amount of money back.

The V6 Mustang's around here go really cheap because not many people want them.

Did i get ripped off my chihuahua pekignese mix?

Saturday i went to the flea market and saw the cutest dog i knew i wanted her she is a chihuahua pekignese mix they asked 150$ for her and i couldn't resist is this a decent price for a mixed dog? Or did i get ripped off? She is a grey color and also when i can i start teaching her obedience and start potty training? She's only 6 weeks old thanks.|||i think thats pritey good for any dog mine was about $1000 and i know i got ripped off but i love him so much|||You didn't get ripped off .. but you bought a puppymill dog. Thank god she was $150 because with her being a pekinese, and from a puppymill, she's going to need lots of expensive surgery later on her joints and back. Especially since she is way to young to be taken from her mother - another sign of a puppymill. Good luck, I hope you have money saved up for the dog.|||No thats not really a rip off you would pay almost as much as if you adopted the dog. Usually dogs cost a lot more than that so you got a good deal in my opinion.|||You got ripped off. You fell for the "designer" breed fad like so many others and got scammed. If you want a mixed breed, you should go to a shelter not buy from a crook.|||That's a bit more than what you would pay at a shelter but you got a good deal if the dog is healthy. Has she had her first set of vaccinations? Has she been wormed from 2 weeks of age? Has she been vet checked?

Honestly, at 6 weeks of age, she should still be with her mum. You did not get this girl from a good breeder but again, a good breeder wouldn't sell mixed breeds - especially in a flea market.

If you're happy with her, that's great.

Have fun with your new puppy, she sounds very cute :)

Edit: You did get this girl from a puppy mill broker and you shouldn't have bought her on an impulse decision. Buying a puppy mill dog is very risky. It also supports what those horrible places do. You need to get her thoroughly vet checked ASAP and you need to start saving money. You're definitely going to need it when those genetic defaults and diseases start popping up.|||I'm afraid that 6 weeks is too young to be taken from it's mother. If it had been a little older, and it had already begun its puppy series of vaccinations (which I doubt it has...it probably hasn't seen a vet if it is being taken from it's mother at least 2 weeks too soon), it wouldn't have been bad. You can start potty training and obedience training her immediately. My vet recommended just working on obedience for the length of one commercial, given a dog's attention span at that age. I recommend that for housebreaking you try crate training her. Buy a crate, preferably with a divider, that will be big enough for her when she is full grown. Put the divider in to give her only enough room to turn around and lay down. She should be crated whenever you are not at home or are unable to watch her. Take her outside very frequently (puppies don't have much control) and praise her when she uses the bathroom outside. Never punish her for accidents inside the house. It is counterproductive.

My last cliched bit of advice: a good dog is priceless...if you love her, then you were not ripped off. Give her a good home, and she will pay you back infinitely for that money.|||You didn't get ripped off I don't think. It costs almost that much to adopt one from the shelter, but she is far too young to leave her mother.

She needed another month with her, so if I were you I'd be slightly worried about her health and take her straight to the vet to be sure. Somebody that would give a dog away at 6 weeks could not love animals, they're just in it for $$$ so give her a good home :-)|||Think about it this way....she is a mixed breed dog. That means that she is really not much different than any dog you could find in any shelter across the US. True, her parents MAY have been purebred, but who really knows for sure? I think people who charge money for mixed breeds should be ashamed of themselves! Unless they have had shots, worming, neutering, etc, then they are 'worth' no more than any other dog, speaking from a purely sales point of view.

Also, 6 weeks is very young, really too young to be sold. 8 weeks is a better age, really. You are going to have to be very careful about taking her anywhere since her vaccines are not complete. She will need her 'distemper/parvo' combination vaccines. She will need to be wormed and I would STRONGLY suggest you get a fecal analysis performed, as 'flea market' dogs usually carry parasites such as Giardia/Coccidia as well. Take her to the vet ASAP and get her checked up. Both chihuahua and pekes have a lot of health issues.

I would only say this. Buyer beware. I would never pay for a mixed dog unless I was rescuing it from a shelter or rescue group who have already vaccinated/altered it. Sorry.

amanda|||you shouldnt have 2 pay ANYTHING 4 a mix unless shes had her shots, spaying, and all that. You did git ripped if they didnt do all that stuff i no theyre worth evry penny but someones gittin away w/overchargin|||150 isn't a bad price for a toy breed even a mix. If you think of it this way it costs atleast that much to adopt it from the pound. You can start puppy mat training her now. It is easier if they are puppy mat trained first. Obedience can start now too only in slow short periods. Sounds like the cutest little dog. I am getting a Chihuahua soon myself, I am really excited. My grandmother had a Pekingese as long as I can remember she was a GREAT dog. So I wish you the best good luck!!!

Okay I just have to add. Just because you happen to run across a person with some puppies in a flea market doesn't mean necessarily that it must have came from a puppy mill. The person may have had the female and the neighbor had the male and opps puppies then some one told the person they were worth that much. Basically I'm trying to say you don't have a guaranteed puppy mill dog.

Also my grandma got her Peke from a person who came through town with puppies. My grandma had to have one and she never had a disease or surgerys her whole life. The dog lived to be 14.|||YOU GOT A GOOD DEAL FOR THE DOG YOU CAN START TEACHING HER NOW BUT A LITTLE AT A TIME. GOOD LUCK|||She's only 6 weeks old? that's a little too young to be selling a day at. The minimum is usually 8 weeks.|||it is a great price, specially if you have papers and shots.

good luck and congrats on your new puppy.

Why does crabs and shrimp turn orange when they are cooked?

When they're fresh from the market, they are color black or gray. But when you cook them they become orange. Why is that?|||Lobster, crab, and shrimp are all crustaceans, which means they have an exoskeleton (or external skeleton) that appears as a hard shell or crust. In the sea, the shells of crustaceans display a variety of colors, but when crustaceans are uncooked, the green-blue hue of the protein complex of the outer shell predominates.

In lobsters, crab, and shrimp, however, a pigment called "astaxanthin" lies hidden, camouflaged by a protein covering. Astaxanthin is a member of the carotene family of pigments, which are responsible for coloring many of the yellow and orange (or "carotene") fruits and vegetables.

Because these protein chains are not heat-stable, their protein wrapping uncoils as soon as crustaceans are put in boiling water. Voila! Red-orange astaxanthin molecules are released. Because pigments related to the carotenes are stable, the astaxanthins now display their unique deep hues that are so appealing.|||Many have asked the same question and here in an example of one question as yours :

How much power can one get? How far does the grasp of the Corporation reach compared to the Government?

Remember, you don't vote for CEO's.

How free is the free market, anyway-for the aspiring business owner? What are his chances against giants like Kraft?

Does he have lobbyists? Can he exist easily in our era of Corporate Feudalism?|||What are you doing?? You are supposed to be focused on the black president and the n---ger loving pelosi and reid, not logical conversation stuff like this!! Someone needs to reconnect you to the matrix!!!|||You're worried about the power of Kraft? Son, there are mcuh bigger things to focus on.

When you are a shareholder you do vote for the CEO.|||Everything you say is correct.

The only exception to this rule was Walmart, which became a behemoth like this anyways.|||The top corporations/billionaires own everything...but they hide it in a series of fake corporations.

We only know part of the truth|||You are on to something. Now try to get used to the fact that most people can't understand where you are coming from...|||They expanded their empire by buying the competition. The competition didn't have to sell.|||They have FDA regulations and other government regulations that take out their competition for them. Thus we dont have a free market and havent in a very very very long time.|||Simple, boycott Kraft products.|||Love Kraft, (dinners and Raspberry jam)|||No,,,,I like Paul Newmans salad dressings best.|||the free market says you have the freedom to boycott kraft food.|||Capitalism, despite popular belief, isn't a perfect system, as many would like to believe. The flaw you pointed in is the largest chink in the armor.

Capitalism relies on a free market with equal opportunities. But those two things can't coexist, in fact, they contradict each other.

The main philosophy is, if you lose, it's your own fault. But there are so many other factors when it comes to winning that the capitalist philosophy doesn't take into account. Consider that it's a dog eat dog economy. What if one dog is 3 times as big as another dog faces a normal sized dog. Who's gonna win? When big dog eats the normal sized dog, he grows to the size of 4 dogs. Monopolies, however we much we try to stop them, are part of the Capitalist system, and the philosophy is that if they made it, it was through hard work and perseverance.

But, as you can see, people don't work hard and persevere to become successful. The majority of them are born into successful families and/or cheat to get ahead.

A free market economy relies on competition, and competition is ruthless, my friend.

Is there a semi-permanent hair colour that I can buy to cover a small amount of grey hair?

I don't want to dye my whole head. I don't have much grey hair, but have a few noticeable spots of grey that I would like to cover up! If possible I would like to just "spot-cover" those specific sections.

And if possible I don't want to use permanent colour. I prefer semi-permanent, so I don't have to deal with roots. I don't know if there is such a product on the market.

I think what I would like is something similar to those cheap halloween hair colours you can buy. They come in something like a mascara tube, and they are good for more than a single use.

Does anyone know if you can buy something like that in normal hair colours? (And of course with higher quality than the silly halloween ones).|||You can try the (I forgot the name) It is in a bottle, you squirt a bit out into your hand, and just put it on the grey spots. You can choose the color according to your hair color. It comes in a pink bottle, and it washes out. Look for it at Walmart. I know they have it.

Can I fill a burn hole on my kitchen worktop?

I have managed to burn a hole in my kitchen worktop. Its black and grey marble effect formica. Its about the size of a 50p piece and the brown chip board is now showing. Is there any way of professionally filling this or can I do it myself somehow (without using a black market pen which was my only thought!!).|||Mix up some dough and pour it in.|||Somebody asked this question the other day, and a reply which I thought was quite good was to get a heat proof tile, get a good carpenter to cut a square the size of the tile, drop the tile in the hole and then you have a place to put down hot pans on in the future. But unless you have a friend who can do this for you, may turn out to be costly.|||In all honesty its not worth the bother . worktops as u descibe are only about 55 quid to buy and easy to fit (well for me 40yrs a carpenter) lol

But if you wish to fill it then i would probably use car body filler to bring the surface more level and u can buy in all diy stores a black worktop filler paste in a tube about 7 quid

but if its your house bite the bullet and buy a new one it will always look pants otherwise|||There is a product on the market call plastic wood, its a wood filler.Clean out the burned area carefully then fill the hole with the filler, once dry sand it smooth. It comes to different colours, pick one that`s close to the colour you want.|||yes they can be filled, but i wouldn't recommend doing it yourself, the filler is called shellac and is melted in, then the colour effects are put in, not a quick job, easier as said to replace the top|||Marker pen works for me! Apart from replacing the worktop fully, go for the pen.

You can get a specialised pen from a DIY store to cover but just as effective to use marker - and cheaper!|||You could fill it with worktop jointing compound (try B%26amp;Q). It comes in different colours.

What "spices" do I add to Ground Beef, that came from a "farmers market"?

a friend of ours gave us some ground beef that she said it was from a "farmers market" meaning that it just came from the cow and grounded and then packaged and frozen. Thats it.! She said it was nothing in it but ground beef from a cow. It had some grey/brown in it . About 10% grey and 90%26amp; red and white.Smelled a lil funny. When I cooked it in a cast iron skillet, it smelled awful, I could not bear it. I heard that the "factory" adds spices or such to it. ( like wal-mart meat)

my question is what do I need to add to the ground beef to make it smell, cook, and taste better?|||hey well it sounds like the meat rotted. but if u think its still good try puttin cummon pouder and black pepper.. cumon will change the smell and papper will like make it taste better. add salt and paprika... well thats about it.|||smell in beef... no way.. if it does have a smell, just boil it for 5 mint. and clean it with hot water...let it drain and then, you can start cooking...

This delicious dish is a favorite in the South-Indian state of Kerala. It is served not just as a snack when friends visit, but also as a main course dish with Dosas, Idlis or Appams.

Prep Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes

Ingredients:

1 kg beef cut into 2"-long, 1-thick strips

2 large onions sliced very thin

2 large tomatoes chopped fine

2 tbsps ginger paste

2 tbsps garlic paste

2-3 green chillies

3 tbsps coriander seeds

4 tbsps fennel seeds

8 cloves

Seeds of 6 green cardamom

1" stick of cinnamon

25 black peppercorns

For tempering: 1 large onion chopped fine

50 curry leaves

1 cup fresh coconut cut into 1"- long, thin slivers

1 tbsp mustard seeds

4 tbsps vegetable/ canola/ sunflower cooking oil

Preparation:

Heat a flat pan on a medium flame till hot. Reduce the flame to simmer. Put the fennel, coriander seeds, cloves, peppercorns, cardamom seeds and cinnamon on the pan. Roast, stirring often till the spices begin to get slightly darker and give off their aroma. Turn off fire. Allow to cool slightly.

Grind the above roasted spices into a coarse powder in a clean, dry coffee grinder.

Put the meat, sliced onions, green chillies, tomatoes, ginger and garlic pastes and ground spices into a large mixing bowl. Mix well till all the meat is coated. Keep aside to marinate for an hour.

After an hour, put the above mixture into a large deep vessel and set up to cook on a medium flame. Do not add any water as the meat will give off its own juices. Cook till the meat is tender.

In a separate small pan, heat the cooking oil on a medium flame till hot and add the chopped onions to it. Fry till transparent.

Add the curry leaves and mustard seeds and cook till they stop spluttering. Now add the coconut slivers. Cook till they begin to turn a pale golden color.

Add this tempering mixture to the meat and mix well. Turn on the fire (medium flame) under the vessel containing the meat and cook, stirring often, till the meat browns. The whole dish begins to turn a deep, dark brown in color. This dish traditionally has no gravy at all and is dry so if water is present, make sure to dry it off.

Serve hot with Idlis, Dosas or Appams. you can even eat it with bread... enjoy the ground beef.
