What color and type of resume paper should I use?

I am recently on the job market again due to the economy and I am not sure if anything has changed in the last few years as far as resume paper is concerned. I was using grey, 32 weight paper. What colors and weights are most acceptable? Also, are handwritten thank you notes still sent? And what should I put my resumes, questions and paper in? A padfolio/portfolio? An envelope? A file folder? Any ideas?|||It's crucial to have a great resume, it is worth taking the time to compose something that looks brilliant and does the job well. The website in the box below has lots of data on resumes and guidance with other vocations.|||Just keep it professional and you should be fine. Specifically avoid fancy paper or laminated resumes, bright colors...things that look gimmicky. Printing on a nice quality paper 24+ lbs with a modest color like ivory, beige or soft gray will help set you apart. If you want to go the extra mile a specially designated resume folder that matches the paper is always a nice touch. You can find these at most office supply stores.
